A little over three months ago, Brock Lesnar stood in the middle of the ring at SummerSlam in front of thousands in his hometown of Minneapolis and called Oba Femi the future of WWE. Femi had just defeated Lesnar inside of Hell in a Cell to win their epic trilogy rivalry that began at the beginning of the year.

It was a moment. Lesnar isn’t a guy who loses much, let alone a guy who talks on the microphone after the loss to put over a peer in the most impactful way possible. In fact, because of Lesnar’s stingy record of doing jobs over the years, when he decided Femi was the guy to push the chips in on, the level-up meant more.

Oba Femi — the future of WWE — The Ruler … hasn’t been on WWE television in weeks. Where are ya, Oba?!

Booking with fear

I’ll tell you where. WWE is hiding him. He’s the shiny new toy that the company won’t take out of the packaging because it’ll lose value. Lame.

WWE is booking scared with Femi. Instead of leaning into the success of their new star and making him the focus, they’re hiding him away, afraid that their own storytelling will do him a disservice on the road to a crowning championship win at WrestleMania.
