On the 11/17/23 Member’s only show Zach and I talked about the Continental Classic and its aim to be the G1 of AEW. At least that is what we projected it to be, so Zach asked me what the line up of names needs to be to make it feel like a real G1.
That was when I though of writing out my thoughts here for you, to see what you think. First of all, the old school G1 of 20 men in two blocks would have worked and allowed for some of the less than guys to get in and be easy wins. But, with 12 spots t be a real G1 equivalent all 12 spots needed to be top guys.
I started with a list of “top guys,” and made a list of 17 (no Adam Cole or Will Ospreay due to injury or not being on the roster yet). That list is below:
