The Jake Paul and Mike Tyson fight has led to a lot of discussion on many topics. But, one thing I couldn’t get over is how similar, yet different, boxing and pro wrestling are structured. I know, I know. You're saying; Tyler, are you stupid? Wrestling comes straight from the same promoters that promoted boxing at the turn of the 20th century. Of course that is true, but my point is in regards to how similar it is in terms of talents not being able to interact.
For years politics has prevented a lot of fights — Mayweather and Pacquiao, Canelo and GGG, Tyson and Lewis, and many more. While the politics are different, there are now many match ups that we will almost certainly never see in wrestling because of the company structure, much like the structure we see with promotion companies in boxing.
So for this exercise I wanted to do a few trades between major companies so that certain talent could get dream matchups setup. For the sake of the argument, each trade will commence on 1/1/25 and that talent’s last day with that company will be 12/31/25. The talents in question can work one date for the home company — any one day. The salary for that year of the contract will be paid by the receiving company. and the time served will count on the talent's current contract. For example, if Sami Zayn has three years left on his contract he will have 2 years remaining when he returns to WWE on 1/1/26.
