Steve Borden is a lot of things; a surfer, a crow, a wolf, a mafia member, an icon, a joker, a hall of famer, someone who has still got it, and above all Sting.
Is he the only professional wrestler to have different personas, in different eras? No of course not; Chris Jericho, Seth Rollins, Hulk Hogan and of course “The Viper,” Randy Orton. Ok one of those is not like the other. But, the point is that if you are a top guy in the wrestling business for a prolonged period of time you have to reinvent yourself.
When it comes to all time legends of the industry what is the one thing that they have in common? They all worked in WWF/WWE at one point or another. When you make a Mount Rushmore of Wrestling, how many of those guys worked all or a majority of their career in WWE? My guess is all four or three out of four fit into that boat. I also would guess, as it was for me, that Sting was not in that top four if you were honest with yourself in making that list.
