We’re doing this again? Really? I swear, it’s like a jacked up fever dream that just never ends.
Tony Khan and Eric Bischoff are at each other’s throats again, folks. Yep, it pains me to inform you that both men took to social media on Thursday of this week to out duel the other in what can only be described as pathetic jabs that would have a room full of high school gossipers snickering in embarrassment.
He started it
Tony Khan started it. Bischoff and his Strictly Business podcast co-host, Jon Alba, announced on social media that the show would be wrapping up due to other projects that Bischoff was pursuing. On the show, Alba and Bischoff discussed the business of the wrestling business and featured various guests along the way that helped in that endeavor. Tony Khan and AEW were a regular Bischoff target. In response to the show shutting down, Khan looked for a knockout blow during an overnight post on Twitter/X.
Khan wrote on Twiter:
“Sunsetting this fraud of a business podcast before the next AEW media deal is a wise choice.”
And down goes … well, nobody. Once the sun rose and Khan hopefully went to sleep, Bischoff awoke to the blow that wasn’t and responded with his own version of a knockout counter.
Bischoff wrote on Twitter:
“A money mark with no talent other than spending daddy’s money, going all the way to Canada to draw less than 4k in one of the hottest pro wrestling markets in North America, talking about “wise choices”? Strap in. It’s going to be a fun day!”
BURN! Ehh, not really. And I know, Bischoff included a video of a barrage of empty seats from this week’s AEW Dynamite to emphasize his point and put a little seasoning on his shot at the same time, but it just couldn’t hide his desperation to stay relevant.
The Khan/Bischoff rivalry sucks
I can’t be the only one tired of these sad little showdowns on Twitter of all places. I mean these two are grown men. One of them is part of a billionaire family and the other is 68 years old for god sake. Both should know that this type of back and forth BS to try and one-up the other in wittiness that only is popping themselves is a bizarre waste of time — especially given what is on the plate of each whiney gentleman.
Let me toss some right hooks out there for them to deal with.
Tony, you aren’t in a place to dole out passive aggressive feedback like that, alright? Here’s a list of things that are more important: Finalizing a television deal for AEW and announcing it. Halting the Dynamite viewership free fall that just so happened to coincide with three major signings at huge price points. Speaking of those signings, how about trying to find a way to present and market those talents in an effort to draw some high ratings again? Just thought.
I’ll keep going. Tony, you have an AEW Collision product that’s become a show filled with hodge-podge matches that don’t move the needle. You have AEW Rampage too, but that’s probably a lost cause. How about working on ROH? That’s a product that could be useful for you if you took the time to plan how it can be useful and then put people in places to focus on the brand to make it just that. And of course, man, you have Fulham stuff to do, Jacksonville Jaguars madness to attend to, and maybe you want to try and have a social life in the middle of all that.
Wait, Bischoff is that you laughing?
Here’s some business your way. Look, you downplay these social media escapades against Tony Khan as “just having fun” and it’s a good little shield to hide behind, but c’mon. You’re trying to stay relevant with these little dust-ups. You get to act like cool guy Bischoff just yucking it up and having a good time, but relevancy is the key to craziness. I don’t blame you for that. Everyone wants to do that. The thing is, Bisch, you’ve got decades worth of experience, stories, successes, and failures that can keep you relevant. All of which are above putzing around on social media like a teenager who just got their first smart phone. Try some of the higher hanging fruit. Take on AEW, but from an analytical point of view and as someone who has fought the fight Tony Khan is fighting. Trust me. It’s more entertaining than Bischoff the keyboard warrior.
Fight
So, fellas, shut up and fight. Yeah, fight. Wrestle. That’s the only answer. Eric, you know all about the art of silly stunt show call outs thanks to your WCW days. We’re in the age of clown show fights anyway. This one fits right in alongside Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson. Maybe Bischoff vs. Khan on the undercard of that circus? Something.
Clearly, I’m kidding, but a pseudo fight between these goofy gargantuan egos at least leaves us something real to talk about — as beyond awful as it might be. Does Bischoff use that karate background and down Khan? Can Khan break the bank for the best trainers money can buy? Can you imagine? A fight is better than what we got this week from you clowns. and that says a lot.
Really, though, just cut it out. Both of you. It’s unbecoming and both of you have better things to do with your time — at least I hope so.
Wrestling fans certainly do.
