-There wasn’t much to the match itself, but I’m really glad to see DarkState get a strong victory over Joe Hendry and Hank & Tank. They needed it. That faction hit NXT with quite a bit of fanfare, but has stagnated out since revealing itself. Not having a leader hurts it quite a bit, but signs point to Trick Williams taking that spot. The group needs it badly and with Trick vs. Joe Hendry looming at Battleground for the TNA Championship, that just might be where we see the big angle take place that puts Williams directly in the leader role.
Trick and the WWE main roster
-Now, Williams can carry that role for sure. The question is, should he? He’s done everything there is to do in NXT, so dropping him in this spot would in all likelihood keep him on the brand for quite a bit longer. The main roster is clogged up, but eventually top talents have to have the chance to spread their wings to do bigger and better things. Interesting times ahead for Trick.
-Zaria vs. Kelani Jordan was a strong match and one of the better showings for Zaria since she showed up in NXT. Zaria got to show off her power in this match and Jordan did a nice job bumping for her. The Zaria vs. Sol Ruca showdown is near and I’ve been calling it for months. Ha!
-We didn’t get a ton more from Tony D’Angelo this week regarding his feud with Stacks. Too bad. D’Angelo gets Wes Lee next week after a little drama in the locker room and that’s where you can bet we’ll see the next chapter of the saga that’s still one of the best going on the show. Every time I watch D’Angelo I wonder about his main roster potential. It works on the small NXT scale, but big time Raw? I’m not convinced.
Femi vs. Who?
-Wait, Myles Borne is the number one contender for the NXT Championship? Borne? Geez. Can someone please book an actual credible opponent for Oba Femi? What the hell are we doing here?
-Jaida Parker vs. Karmen Petrovic happened. Not bad, but not great either. Parker is in a strange spot. She shows signs here and there, but doesn’t get a regular push that can command any type of true investment from the audience. Also, she doesn’t get heat from the crowd, but she doesn’t get cheered either. She’s got to find her lane.
-Track suit Andre Chase????????! Hell yes.
Careful
-Jordynne Grace vs. Guilia was excellent, but I hope Guilia is ok. She was dangerously close to landing directly on top of her head on two different occasions. Grace tossing her around like a rag doll looks great, but she’s got to be careful with that power. Guilia is valuable, as is Stephanie Vaquer, who we now know will face Grace for the NXT Women’s Championship at Battleground. That’s a strong match for a B-level NXT PLE.
