-Stephanie Vaquer continued her dominance this week with a strong match against an inferior opponent in Karmen Petrovic. Vaquer was great again and is having really good matches with everyone she faces. Petrovic kept up nicely, but Vaquer was the general in there.
Hell Yes
-Guilia vs. Vaquer? Title vs. title? Ummm, hell yes. This is a dream match and one of the biggest matches NXT can put on. Putting it on Roadblock instead of Stand and Deliver is a choice, but if it’s a classic — and it should be — Shawn Michaels can always run back the rematch during WrestleMania weekend.
-Moose is a perfect fit for NXT and showed why this week against Lexis King. They had a good match, but the crowd seemed invested in it specifically because of Moose.
-Just as I said last week, Moose vs. Oba Femi is an ideal crossover match between TNA and NXT — especially for Femi. Both guys have big presences and similar styles that should compliment the other nicely.
-I’ll tell you this, the little promo video this week with Shawn Spears introducing his new group was very well done. Well done. Just MONTHS too late.
Money promo from a money player
-Tremendous promo from Jordynne Grace. The best part of the show. Grace looked comfortable, like an alpha, and like the star she’s being presented as. She was really smooth walking through her goals in NXT and praising, while at the same time challenging Guilia, Vaquer, and others. Grace vs. Roxanne Perez is the smart play at this point since Perez is heading to the main roster.
-Massive pop for The Hardys. Every time I think their charm has worn off, they get a pop like that and I rethink everything. Matt and Jeff Hardy had a fine match against No Quarter Catch Crew. Nothing special, but good enough for a return. The work being done to set up Hardys vs. Fraxiom should pay off nicely when they do the match.
-Another backstage attack from the new faction and another week of coming across exactly like Retribution. Not good. NXT needs to answer one simple question and fast — What is the purpose of this thing? Until they do, it’ll continue to flounder along.
Have a seat
-The little table chats with Tony D’Angelo and The Family used to be over-produced and too cute, but I’ve grown to enjoy them. This week was particularly effective and the group came across as a family that cared about one another. Good stuff and the Spears vs. D’Angelo match has quietly been well built.
-Lola Vice got back to her winning ways. Something happened to halt her push there for a few months, but this win over Arianna Grace could be the start of a new one.
Saints showcase
-The main event this week was very good and pretty much a showcase for Ricky Saints. Saints seemed to recognize that and took full advantage. He was excellent. The wrestling was crisp, but he emoted the proper viciousness for his character too. The on the road audience loved him the entire way.
