-Cool to see Bryan Danielson back in the fold, even if it was just for commentary purposes. The guy always seems like he loves what he’s doing and is a nice star power card for Tony Khan to play now and again.
Ospreay is a promo guy
-Will Ospreay has turned into one helluva promo guy. He is so authentic when he speaks. He makes you feel something for him and that leads to a tremendous amount of investment from fans. It sounds like Ospreay is going to be having surgery after Forbidden Door. That sucks to hear.
-As for the Team Ospreay vs. Team Death Riders Lights Out Cage Match, this week featured loads of chaos to promote and hype up the chaos of that bout. To that end, it worked well and all involved gave the fans a good taste of what can be expected at Forbidden Door. As for Ospreay, he did a great job of emphasizing how and why he’s willing to take the dangerous risk of wrestling while injured so badly. It was believable and that’s all you could ask for.
-Christian Cage and Adam Copeland were disappointing this week. As I said last week, if you’re going to do a reunion, then do it. Don’t do it half way and what we saw this week is the latter. Copeland and Cage felt like tag partners against their will. Who wants to get behind that? A total butchering of what could have been a cool nostalgia moment for wrestling fans. Killswitch returning doesn’t add enough sizzle to make this thing worthwhile.
Chef’s kiss
-Now, that’s a tag team match. How fun was that? FTR vs. Brodido was wonderful. Full of action and drama, but also with true stakes behind everything that the audience could feel and invest in. A triple threat match for the tag titles at Forbidden Door is a bit of a cop out, especially because the feud and story has primarily been between FTR and Hurt Syndicate.
-So, MJF was going to light Mark Briscoe on fire? Are you kidding me? That’s about as awful of an angle as you can get in AEW. It’s nonsensical not only because of the reality that nobody in their right mind actually believed MJF would do it, but then you have your star good guy falling for it as everyone else doubts it severely? Plus, the beauty of the angle last week was that the babyface got the one-up on the heel. This week’s BS undid all of that. Just poorly thought through and bad instincts on the part of everyone involved.
A tell?
-A good tag team main event between the team of Mercedes Mone & Athena and Toni Storm & Alex Windsor. Athena crushing Storm on the steps with a piledriver looked very good and also gave the two women a clear storyline to follow during their actual match on Sunday. Storm going into the match injured could be a built-in out if she loses the championship at Forbidden Door.

Is it easy to onboard AEW if I haven't watched in a long time? I always worry about that
