-Hold on, did Adam Page squash Wheeler Yuta this week? Hell yeah! He sure did. The Page vs. Yuta match was a perfect opener to the show. Page is the world champion and got booked like one. Yes, he could have had a “better,” more exciting match with Yuta, but why? Page is presented as the top dog in AEW as it’s champion and should dust back-up players like Yuta. Great stuff.
Money tag match
-Just an excellent tag team match between FTR and Jet Speed this week in the just announced number one contenders tournament for the AEW World Tag Team Championships. It felt like two years ago FTR out there this week and Jet Speed were the perfect opponents to keep pace and create movement. The true heel victory for FTR was a cherry on top.
-Cope has been obnoxious during his little feud with FTR. No question about that. BUT. It does feel like both sides are beginning to show true disdain and hatred for the other. That’s only going to help things when they finally wrestle matches.
-Now, just last week The Hurt Syndicate were heels and now this week they are out there helping out Cope against FTR? What gives?
In or out?
-Speaking of Hurt Syndicate, is MJF still a part of the group? It kinda doesn’t seem like it after Lashley almost tossed him through a locker backstage. That said, their relationship can’t end just like that can it? I don’t think so. Look, it’s better for MJF and Hurt Syndicate to break. Tying those acts together kept the entire faction undefined and that has hurt them. Fans want to cheer Hurt Syndicate and boo MJF. Let them.
-After not saying much at all last week on the show, we finally got to hear Jon Moxley talk about losing the AEW World Heavyweight Championship. Mox didn’t wine or complain, but his words did showcase the agony in defeat. Just in a very Moxley way. It worked well.

-Ok, so Will Ospreay has two herniated discs in his neck and will only be out of action for a month? I mean, good for him. In the promo, though, Ospreay talked about hiding symptoms from medical. If I’m Tony Khan, Ospreay stays on the shelf for a long while to make sure he heals properly. It seems as if Ospreay is the kind of guy that needs to be saved from himself.
-Toni Storm vs. Billie Starkz was quite good. A sign of things to come down the road as Starkz is sure to be a main player in AEW after a little more seasoning. Athena believably attacked Storm after the match and very much made it look like she would cash her title contract in. All of that so Alex Windsor to make the save. Who? Exactly. Windsor is an ROH title challenger. Her being the one to fend off the big bad challenger on behalf of the company’s biggest women’s star was an odd choice. Windsor is a solid wrestler if you know her work, but she’s far below Toni Storm in the AEW hierarchy. Storm shouldn’t need Windsor.
-Swerve Strickland vs. Kazuchika Okada is such a good program and feud for AEW. Less Don Callis, please. At this point, he’s coming across as more of a carny sideshow for Okada and ideally he’d be a calculated and heat generating manager.
-Mark Briscoe vs. Claudio Castagnoli was a strong main event that had the right finish. Briscoe has a little momentum behind him right now and however that momentum is going to serve him, he needs the book behind him to keep it moving along.
Next week
-The big angle between Adam Page and Jon Moxley at the end of the show was excellent and memorable. Page looked the part of the champion walking down to the ring to confront The Death Riders. Plus, Page dictating everything regarding their rematch next week shows a champion in control. Page looked like the star of the show and that’s exactly what he is. Page vs. Mox next week for the AEW World Championship is can’t miss stuff.
