Did you hear the news? AEW star, Miro, has requested his release from the company. In bigger news and while hard to believe, yes, Miro is still currently employed by AEW. I know! I barely believed it either.
On Friday morning, Sean Ross Sapp at Fightful reported that the former TNT Champion wants out. Miro hasn’t worked a match for AEW in nearly nine months. At the Worlds End PPV event last December, Miro defeated Andrade via submission, but has not been seen since. So, he wants his AEW release? Big freaking deal. Give it to him, Tony Khan. Good riddance.
Worst free agent signing ever?
Miro has been one of the worst free agent signings in AEW. He joined the company in September of 2020 after a tumultuous run of ups and downs in WWE. Like most Tony Khan signings at this time, Miro was strong fit for AEW due to the connection he had with fans and the lack of a true opportunity in the form of a push in WWE — something that fans had long desired for him.
Because of that upside, AEW had secured a talent that fans wanted to see and in theory, a talent that was ready to hit the ground running hard in order to prove his doubters wrong and feed the chip on his shoulder.
