“I’ve changed.”
This week on Monday Night Raw in what was his first appearance and promo on the show in over nine years, those two words from CM Punk were the most compelling and most noteworthy in an otherwise obnoxiously flat piece of mic work.
After a three hour show that had more low lows than WWE could have wanted with an increased viewership tuning in thanks to the Punk return, the Voice of the Voiceless walked to the ring with eight minutes left to go before Raw faded to black and cut the most WWE style promo imaginable.
Punk barfed up WWE speak about being “home,” having “unfinished business” in the company, cued up a cute little nod to his pipe bomb promo over ten years ago, and essentially rolled around in hand sanitizer so as not to get the WWE product and brand tarnished with his usual controversial, dirty fingers. The promo was flat. Boring even. Was it supposed to be? Hell yeah it was.
