AEW prides itself on being the best in-ring product out there and they’ll put that reputation on the line at the Worlds End PPV event inside the NOW Arena in Hoffman Estates, Illinois on Saturday night.
The final AEW PPV card of 2025 isn’t loaded with storyline masterpieces, but it’s bursting at the seams with potential five-star classic matches. It’s just how Tony Khan likes it.
First and foremost, the PPV will contain the semifinals and finals of the 2025 AEW Continental Classic tournament. This has been the best edition of the tournament yet and the reason has been surprising results, action-packed matches, and enough storyline development to maintain fan interest.
AEW Continental Classic … classics
The first semifinal is a battle that has been brewing for months. Konosuke Takeshita and Kazuchika Okada will square off and the story is both of their massive successes inside of tournaments. Okada is known as the best tournament wrestler ever and Takeshita won this year’s G1 Climax tournament in New Japan Pro Wrestling. Unstoppable force? Meet immovable object.
Takeshita and Okada are the alphas of The Don Callis Family and have nearly come to blows on multiple occasions, but have yet to have an all out fight together. There will be no stopping them this time.
Takeshita defeating Okada is the longterm storyline that AEW is chasing. The best way for that to progress is if Okada wins this match. Plus, Okada is the current Continental Champion and it makes sense for him to try and defend that crown in the tournament finals. Okada advances in what will be the match of the night.
In the other semifinal, Jon Moxley takes on Kyle Fletcher. Moxley has been the story of the tournament. He’s had to make a massive comeback to get to this position and went through one of his own Death Rider members in Claudio Castagnoli to get there. Since Moxley’s PPV losses this fall, drama has seeped into the group. Watch for that to play out fully in Moxley’s final tournament appearances, but it won’t be in this one.
We’ve already seen Kyle Fletcher vs. Kazuchika Okada in a Continental Classic match this year. It’s doubtful we’ll see another one, which means Jon Moxley is winning this and heading to the finals. For one thing, Okada vs. Moxley is a stellar final and that match could be on a marquee anywhere. Plus, that match is a better foundation to finally do the Death Riders turn on Moxley. It will matter more in this match, benefits the heel Okada, and protects Moxley as he heads into 2026. So, Okada wins the tournament for the second year in a row and takes his Continental Championship back … thanks to the Death Riders.
Fatal four-way main event
The Worlds End 2025 main event is a triple threat match between Adam Page, MJF, Swerve Strickland, and Samoa Joe. It’ll be a fatal four-way and the best thing about the match is it’s hidden outcome. You can make arguments for either guy to take the title, but MJF securing it is most interesting and the most impactful way AEW can start 2026.
MJF just returned to AEW and needs to be a fixture of it’s main event scene. He gives most to the company with the title around his waist. As a heel, both top babyfaces — Page and Strickland — can chase the championship all year and Will Ospreay can insert himself into the picture whenever he comes back. MJF gives Tony Khan options and that’s why he walks out of the event with the belt.
