History says Sami Zayn's world title win was never a certainty, so enjoy it

It’s been just over a week since Sami Zayn did the unfathomable at the Night of Champions PLE and pinned Cody Rhodes to win the Undisputed WWE Championship for the first time in his career. If you think about that for a minute and playback Zayn’s career in your head, you know just how unlikely that was just a few years ago.

Zayn is the world champion today. Tomorrow it could be over. So, enjoy it.

It’s hard to fully understand the significance of Zayn winning the world title without looking back at history. Indies, El Generico, ROH, and NXT. Zayn thrived for each of those promotions and not only delivered stellar matches, but money-making business as well. For as well-rounded as Zayn was, he never got a main event level push on the WWE main roster.
